The 24-hour relay began Friday, June 29th, at noon lead off by Jeff Rice and continued for 24 straight hours with participants rowing a minimum of 30 minutes per time slot. Several members opted to row for an hour-long, with an elite (or crazy) few doing 90 minutes of rowing. Two people even did 2 hours stretches! Simply amazing!
In total, 31 people rowed a total of an astounding 327,304 meters during the 24-hour row and many more rowed a 5K for time on Saturday. For the 5K, we hooked up 11 rowers to a computer and projected software that allowed the "boats' to race! We are looking forward to getting the membership excited for this event next year. We also want to give a big "thank you" to Kris Kratky for organizing the event this year, staying up all night to keep track of mileage, cheering on our members, and making sure everything went smoothly. We also want to thank Ann Miller-Michaels for helping Kris organize the event. Finally, we want to thank Shari Michaels for also staying up all night though the 24-hour relay to support our members.
